how did they convince Danny DeVito to join the show?

Probably said "hey do you want to come have fun and do a bunch of crazy, ridiculous sh**? Oh you do, cool".

Apparently his daughter LOVED the show and convinced him.

^ That's what I heard.

FX had told the guys (Mac, Charlie & Dennis) that they liked the show and would pick it up for a 2nd season but they needed to bring in a recognizable name to add to the cast in order to do so.

I don't know who got in touch with who, I'm guessing the word was put out there to agents and eventually those things led to Danny joining.

Funny thing is the guys were scared that DeVito wouldn't gel well with the show, and now they couldn't imagine it without him.
