What was the rash she had?
I don't know about the believability of that scene. If I remember correctly, he used a cue-tip to apply something on her sheets which gave her the rash? Poison oak extract or something?

In the Director's commentary, he mentions it was another part of the film designed to show how one can terrorize another through all the new technology. Obviously, the hidden cameras, microphones, etc.
Supposedly, on the internet, you can buy various skin irritants which make no bones about what they are and what they are used for.
It couldve been lice or bed bugs... there's places where you can buy them online.
