Which was more brutal - Passion o/ the Christ or Apocalypto?

Which Mel Gibson film is more graphic?

I think in terms of the graphic nature of the bloodshed, the crucifixion scene is still more brutal than anything in Apocalypto, but the amount of sheer bloodshed is probably greater in the latter. Whereas Passion is concentrated on one individual person, the height of the violence in Apocalypto inflicts everyone. I still get chills thinking about the sphere going right through the running slave's mouth.

Also factoring in is the emotional nature of the brutality inflicted on women and children which isn't really seen in Passion.

Well the violence in both films provokes different, yet rough emotions. Apocalypto isn't as bittersweet as Passion and it's got a bunch of good and bad people murdered in about every way you can think of, and some murders were a bit prolonged like the "head blood spray" scene so I'll say this movie. I love both movies however for the sheer experiences!

Mr. Gibson is showing the audience that violence is not pretty and he knows when to cut away, in the scenes.

For me it's The Passion, because as brutal as the film depiction was, in reality it was probably much worse.
Slowly dieing on the cross, AND taking on all of mankind's sin.
Even God had to look away.

Passion was more brutal imo, I cannot even watch that film again unlike Apocalypto, I've seen this many times.
