Anyone think what the village Elder said was profound?

Near the beginning of the film the village elder (the man with one hand) Tells the story of the man, the world, the deer and the owl. Looking at how history as shaped itself from that time until now, it seems quite profound. I appreciate this is not based on any one individuals experience and just a fictionalised account of what happened in central/southern America at that time.
Does anyone have any opinions on this?

He's not the Messiah! He's a very naughty boy..

He basically predicted what was gonna happen and how it'd shape the future. The greed of man.

I thought it was a beautiful monologue that summed up one of the faults of the human condition. We're never satisfied. All the way back to the book of Genesis--Adam and Eve lived in heaven on earth, but it wasn't enough. They had to know more.

It's not as if the Genesis story was true. It was just concocted to give people an incentive to do what they were told and not ask questions.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
