Did Dan purposely not climb back on board in an attempt to kill himself over his guilt?

Since he was so worried about appearances and his image, I thought he drifted away on purpose so he wouldn't have to face what he'd done. I imagine there would have been an investigation and even if he wasn't convicted of anything it would be splashed all over the media. I think he was too narcissistic to drown himself over guilt.

Because Dan is all about himself. And selfish Dan caused all the deaths except James. Why Amy thought his life was worth more than her baby's is beyond incredibly stupid
