why would hot guy like Dan have to pretend to be rich to attract women?

OK so 1 of the big things of the movie was how Dan was a con artist who used fabricated tales of wealth and success to look good to others and attract the opposite sex but the premise of that fails in that Dan was an extremely attractive guy. Had he been plain looking or non attractive I'd have understood it but truth is that very good looking men like Dan would generally have no trouble attracting the opposite sex or been admired by people[both male and female] simply because he was so handsome, young and charismatic- in general that would be enough to be seeing him through life well in regards to attracting women and friends regardless of having a high income.

I'm not saying I agree with it but it's true [in fact many studies have shown] that people who are very good looking will generally have a big enough following just because they are good looking so why bother having to go get more or rather go and get what you already have in abundance? And please don't play the 'he did not realise he was attractive'card - nope good looking people generally know they are hot as sure as overweight people will know they are overweight. Truth is that many people are shallow and will like others for the wrong reasons such as good looks hence Dan would never had the problems he strived to avoid.

Great question, but there could be many answers. Here are a few:

1. Some people just want more of everything, including attention and adoration. They may constantly need to feed their ego.

2. Maybe his friends or family are rich, and he feels like a lesser person.

3. Maybe he got dumped by someone who was looking for money or left him for someone who had money.

4. Maybe he's just not that bright, and what better way to prove you're smart but by getting rich?

The answer is actually not a strange in the slightest. It's actually very simple. This is how the dating world works at the top of the tree.

Top quality girls aren't just looking for looks. Assuming Dan is attracted to 'A1' girls, his looks won't be enough to get anywhere near the 100's he claimed to have trophied.

The facts are that David Beckham wouldn't have married any pop star if he'd never made it in football, and instead lived to work part time in the local newsagents. There are plenty of men of low status, yet are still very handsome. If they're only attracted to model types who were brought up in public schools (UK private schools) then such a man is out of luck! And, let's not forget, Beckham is one of the world's most beautiful men. A beautiful man needs LOOKS and POWER to attracted the hottest. And if he's missing one or the other, then his successes with the most attractive females will be very greatly compromised.

That's why he decided to bluff the success part of the equation. Just as many handsome men, who didn't make it in life, still do these days!

Because A1 women can get any man, they need looks AND power. In the 21st century 'power' means great wealth.

Dan, realising how the world works, had to come up with a way to attract the model types to which he was attracted... And there in a nutshell is your answer.

David Beckham went for the least talented Spice Girl who leeches off others talent for her own attention.
I don't think England will ever win anything at football until they get away from David's influence, as he cared more about going along his talentless wife milking his position for as much attention as she could after she couldn't sing solo, with World Cup parties to invite talented people to get her picture taken with them to get in magazines. David ignored the advice of his Man Utd manager to concentrate on the game he was being paid a lot of money for than going along with his wife using the game for a talentless celeb career, to try and be like the Kardashians. He was the only one to miss a penalty which had England kicked out of the Euro championships. Then his wife got him to go to LA so she could suck up to Hollywood stars, but as soon as the Olympics started they were back, trying to use the event for more attention than real sports stars who won medals for our country. We came 3rd on the Olympics medal chart which is amazing as two countries above had much higher populations, yet the Beckhams thought it was all about them.
His wife must have told him that he couldn't play a part in Olympics opening ceremony unless they promoted her fashion design at Olympics, and that's embarrassing, when most countries have top designers who worked in the industry or studied it. Not orange wags who need something else for attention and only decided to be a designer because needed something for attention when running out of dumb stories to sell to magazines, yet she had never worked in or studied the subject. She gets others to make the clothes.
They're hyped up and pay promoters to force themselves in people's faces with attention seeking schemes to brainwash the gullible into liking them, and Victoria actually believes the made up stories her promoters sell. She said on a chat show that she thinks she will always be famous, and that her son is really model material, when he looks like the kid from Mad. His wife is like a leech who uses others for attention, and now they're selling their children into the celeb industry too, so there won't be any avoiding them either.
Now he hasn't won much at football, he hangs around Prince William at charity events hoping for a knighthood, so his attention seeking wife can use it to sell more dumb stories to magazines.
