Could this work? (two possible ways to escape)

Just watched the movie and I constantly thought that there might have been one (in fact maybe two) solutions to escape the water.

1. Imagine one person floating near the boat. Three persons dive beneath it trying to push the floating person upwards. At the same time a fourth person climbs onto the floating person and tries to jump to the top. Dunno if possible...

2. If you look at the bow of the yacht you see two notches (where the water floats out during the storm). One person could have grabbed the two notches while another person climbed onto the shoulders of the first one. From there it should have been possible to jump to the top.

What do you think?

I think they could've somehow made a human raft out of four of them, and then the other two could've managed to grab the railing.

1. I was screaming at the TV for them to try this. I don't know if it would work but it wouldn't hurt to try and throw or boost one of the smaller girls up.

And why did they have a a big guy climb the rope? They should have had one of the smaller girls try.

I would have pulled the drain plug from the stern and sunk the boat enough to climb aboard. Then throw the EPIRB overboard and you're all set.

clever!

The first one absolutely would not have worked they couldn't have pushed the fourth person up nearly close enough so this one definitely wouldn't work, the second one I thought of because its like the only thing to grab on but this wouldn't work either because of where the notches were located and shaped theres no way a person could have climbed onto someone else using those

You could also stand on the alligator's back like you're nose-riding a surfboard, then when it opens its mouth to snap at you, you somersault back on deck. I've lost count of the times that's saved my life. Mind you, I do have a wooden leg.

couldn't they have just thrown a dwarf on board. i'm sure the big guys working together in a well co-ordinated fashion could have got enough leverage to make this happen.

If three could synchronize their swimming, link up hands for lightest fourth person
to step into simultaneously while they swim harder to boost themselves out of the water briefly then it works. I know this because we went for a swim outside our boat and my dipstick brother pulled the steps on thinking it would be funny and that is how we managed to get back on board. Only there were only three of us two tossing one. It took a while to time it right. By the time we were finished with him he didn't think it was funny anymore lol.

They don't need to swim. All they need to do is this:

1] Get two groups of people to hold themselves together as two tightly bound groups. Include lifejacket and dolphin. Leave one light person over.

2] Two people, one from each group, put out their hands, and a third (light) person stands on the hands.

3] The standing person jumps up and at the same time the hand people push the standing person upwards as hard as they can. The person jumping will go up with an equal and opposite push down for everyone else. But, since it's one person's weight going up versus everyone else (+floatation devices) going down, that should give the up person speed and distance enough to grab onto the rail.

My method is based on Newton's third law. We need a big weight (combination of everyone else) being pushed down by the muscle strength of three people (2x arms, 1x legs) so that there is a (Newton's third law) equal and opposite force pushing the single person up.

The sinking the boat method through the drain plug should work. But the above method should save on many hours working the bilge pumps as well as stopping all their stuff getting wet. They also would have to be careful not to flood the boat enough to drown Sarah.
