In the disc 1 special features it has the Halloween 2 extended interviews where Rick Rosenthal talks about Michael going into the childrens ward and picking up a mask but in doing so sets off one of those cymbal monkey things. The nurse down the hall heres it and comes down to turn it off and while she's doing that were looking at her through Michael's point of view. And nothing happens. It just seems so insanely creepy. I would've loved to see that make the final cut. Damn.
It is your world in which we grow, and we will grow to hate you
Me too, that sounded like a great scene. I think Rick Rosenthal had a tough job with Halloween 2, I love it and think it is a classic, but I wonder what it would have been like if there were no problems with John Carpenter.
However, had Carpenter not intervened would it have been any where near as good as it is?
Thats another Q altogether, but I agreee, that scene sounded great.
There were scenes in the TV version that come to mind since we are discussing this.....or extended ones like when the cop car hits the guy and the sheriff is yelling Is it Him!!! and Dr. Loomis yells I DON'T KNOW!!! all pissy. That wasn't in the theatrical release, and I remember Jill talking on the phone in the hospital to her boyfriend or something, and Jimmy actually brings the coke that Laurie asked for. None of this is creepy but it added to the movie.
Can't wait to see the scene mentioned above. Awesome.
Seeing as there is so much that was left out, and I hear Mr. Carpenter is to blame, I think the movie would have been much better. Just goes to show he didn't care about the story, the characters, or the development of the series...can't blame him, I guess, from an outside point of view but as a fan I am a little disppointed.
Personally I think you're suffering from hindsight bias. Just the fact that you know that the theatrical cut of the film wasn't as intended by the director changes your opinion.
I love both versions of the film, and if you ask me, I say take the theatrical version (with the gore and such intact), and find a way to edit Rosenthal's precious scenes into the movie carefully (I do like his character development scenes, I enjoyed them heavily, especially the ones where Janet is genuinely scared of the situation, makes you care for her character).
