Better Batman Film: Batman (1989) OR The Dark Knight (2008)?

I like Batman 89 more though I also do like the Dark Knight. But I grew up in the 90s so my opinion is biased.

They were both great films with great actors, writing, and directing, however, the highlight of both of these films was "The Joker". Nicholson and Ledger were outstanding stars that made both of these films memorable and perhaps it is the reason to such success for Joakin's Joker which did not require a batman to make it shine just as bright.

Clearly, it is The Dark Knight with its edgy plot, direction, acting, and so on. Just look at the awards it has won. That's not to say Batman (1989) wasn't any good, but it didn't have enough in the overall scheme of things.

I prefer Batman '89. Keaton nails the part and makes it his own. He is, in my opinion, still undefeated as Batman.

Still, it's hard to argue with Ledger's Joker or the cool dynamics that Nolan plays around with regarding duality. Batman and Joker as antitheses to each other, but also Harvey Dent as a white knight to Batman dark knight and then as a literal two-face. There's a lot going for TDK, and I do disagree that it will fade into obscurity. I think both will be remembered for their individual genius.
