The Dark Knight and Batman Begins proved

That CBMs could be dark and fun.

Nolan probably slipped up with rises by starting DC's new dark and depressing route with rises.

Snyder decided to build on that dark and depressing formula.

David Ayer tried to make it dark and fun again with Suicide Squad but that film suffered from crappy writing and a crappy plot.

Hopefully Justice League will be dark and fun but actually have good writing and a good plot.

Actually, Superman 2 and then Batman (1989) proved that. They just couldn't go full-out dark because audiences wouldn't have accepted it back then.

But, without the success of Batman (1989) and Batman Returns, TDK trilogy probably wouldn't have been made.

I definitely think Nolan's Batman is the best super hero film series.

Slipknot and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan

Stupidest thing I ever heard. Rises was no darker than previous Batman films by Nolan. And Snyder wasn't trying to emulate Nolan. If you have seen any movie by Snyder before DCEU, you know that all of his movies are violent and dark.

Also, The Dark Knight Rises is a good movie. I know you love to brag about on MCU's boards that Marvel movies are good because Fresh Ratings on RT say so. If that's the case, then The Dark Knight Rises is objectively a good movie based on that criteria.

"That CBMs could be dark and fun."

What exactly was "fun" about The Dark Knight?
