WTF was that?? (Spoilers!)

During the trailer on the DVD one reviewer remarked that it was the "best film on generational malaise." She was right about one thing, there sure was malaise. I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. It just got weirder and weirder. Oh okay, one thing happened, I think the one dude wanted to have sex, and there was even the suggestion that they did.

Observations on this boring and nonsensical film:

1. They're going camping, and they BUY firewood? What about all the free firewood in the forest?

2. "Sunshine"? At one point we hear the word "Sunshine". Was this from the radio?

3. They go out into the beautiful woods of Oregon, and they camp next to a dump? What, are they stupid? They could have stayed in the city to do that.

4. What was up with the massage? Was the bearded dude gay? Why did they show the other guy's hand relax and fall into the water? Was that a sign of him giving in to the sexual advance? And why did the film cut away to other scenes? That's usually a dead giveaway that the couple had sex.

5. WTF was up with the bearded dude wandering the city streets at the end? Was he looking for a trick, or was he just f***ed up?

6. Why was the film titled "Old Joy"?

Oh well, that's an hour and 16 minutes of my life I'll never get back again. And thank goodness it was only an hour and 16 minutes long.
