i don't think i've ever heard so many gratuitous noises in a movie before. is the beached walrus sound he makes when they find the couch supposed to add depth to it?

reply

C'mon folks...beached walrus. Anyone? Anyone?

it adds a reality to the stark portrayal of Kurt and Mark. People make noises when there uncomfortable or frustrated, you hear it in life all the time just not in films much.

did anyone recognize one of will oldham's grunts from a sample in a song or am i imagining things? i cant place my finger on it

reply

I liked when he said "sunshine" when you see the shot of the sun through the windshield as they're driving. You just hear him say it, just like you or a friend might blurt out the same thing, and it's kinda funny.

Yeah...
Why? - The Fall of mr fiths.

That was bugging me for ages but it finally clicked!

I used to put this film on to help me go to sleep.

Exactly oftenon43. Thank you

reply

Very well put. As proof of your point, I even groaned when I read the original post of this thread. Most people don't speak like David Mamet scripts in real life, and this film captures that.
