i saw it at the cast and crew screening last year with my girlfriend, its a horror comedy not a slapstick comedy as the trailer portrayed.. false advertising, thats why the dude who made the trailer should be shot in my opinion..

Looks good. Kinda like Severence

"Flatly My Dear, I Don't Riverdance"

it's loads better than Severence (and Severence was pretty good). don't forget, this was written 5 years before Severence was put to paper (so im told by the director of the cottage!)

Wow, the BBFC rated this 18! Must be pretty gut-wrenching. Am I right in thinking that this film was shot ages ago? I seem to remember bloodydisgusting.com reporting on this film quite a while back. If yes, why's it taken so long to be released? Or am I thinking of something else?

Films I've seen this year (*worthless **average ***good ****very good *****flawless)

Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem***
Cloverfield***

i think it got an 18 coz of the way the farmer dispatches his victims.. there's certain times throughout the film where the audience will wince at whats happening on screen, also there is a lot of blood and guts (and not that CGI crap that hollywood loves so much).

Prosthetics were used throughout the film with gallons upon gallons of fake blood.
(i know. i was there)

although the film was shot last year, this film has been in the works for the last 5 years. it was originally going to star Christopher Eccleston and Dexter Fletcher staring in the lead roles when it was cast in 2005 (link below).

still, i can't believe that they would give this an 18 as a few scenes were cut out. i hope the deleted scenes will end up on the dvd extras (hint hint mr director!)

That article says nothing about Ecclestone being cast in "The Cottage" The part of Peter was written for Shearsmith and he was always on board from the start. He has said so himself in a Total Film article on the movie, and at the Frightfest preview of the film.

reply

sorry, my mistake.

reply

That is correct - I was at the preview and filmed the Q and A - Reece did indeed say that Paul wrote the part of Peter hoping that he'd get Reece to play it.

reply

silly old me! i now remember Paul mention something like that over late supper, a few days before my wrap day. my memory isn't what it used to be.. (not good news for an actor!)

Reece and Andy were amazing in there roles, they had a lot of chemistry on screen but can you imagine what the film would be like IF it had starred Dexter Fletcher?
me neither..

i apologise if my posts don't make sense or have some mistakes.. i have an excuse.. im tired!
