they just made their way up the tunnel. there were authorities on the other side who could have used more modern technology to destroy the wall. don't you think?
also, i saw some of the beginning but was in and out, wasn't there a scene where abby chase was eating dinner with ed harris? were those two dating?
Harris' character was killed when that spin wheel thing they were using to open the door slammed into him. even if they could have made it back into the room to save him, he would have already been dead because the thing slammed into him and crushed him.
they were not dating, they were having a meeting to discuss the part of the diary that he had found.
I don't know a lot about anything, but I know a little about practically everything.
The chamber with Ed Harris was quickly flooding with water. And if I recall correctly, Nicolas Cage was the last one to leave that room, and even he barely escaped with his life. By the time they recruited the help of the authorities to get back to the chamber, Ed Harris would have been long drowned.
