Actually, There Are *Four* Statues Of Liberty

Although not an original copy, a small replica exists in Austin, Texas, near the State Capitol. Interestingly enough, though, the Boy Scouts buried a time capsule beneath it (another problem for Ben and Riley to work out).

And I've got a lovely one I bought in New York as a kid in the 1980s. It's made of real copper, and the pencil sharpener in the base still works. I'd better check it for inscriptions ...

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

you people do not understand, they were talking about that French guy who made the NY statue of liberty and 2 others....

reply

No I think it was the OP who didn't understand, talking about a replica Liberty that wasn't made by Laboulaye as the "fourth" statue.

I'm not from the US, so pardon my ignorance, but is it full-size, Nikki, or scaled down?

(I loved Alabama when I visited there a few years back. So different from my country - Australia - and such great people!)

There's replica's in just about every country... there's probably hundreds of them. Most of them where probably after Laboulaye's time though, so officially there's only three that Laboulaye actually created himself: the one in NYC's harbour, and the two in Paris.

Here's a list of all the replicas across the world...

In 2008, when the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was hosted at the old Yankee Stadium, model Statues of Liberty were spread out all throughout the cities' five boroughs. There was one for each of the 30 major league teams plus one for the National League, one for the American League and probably a few more I can't think of at the moment. It almost became a scavenger hunt game, to find them. There was one right outside the Modell's in Time Square, the Mets one was down by the giant Barnes and Noble, not far from Madison Square Garden (a bit strange since that's nowhere near Queens, where the Mets play) and I came across the Phillies one, as well. Never found most of them. I was busy and it's a BIG freakin' city. It would have been one thing to look up where they were on-line and find all of them but to randomly stumble upon them? Not likely, at all. Plus, some of them might have required me to go into areas that I would have no interest (aka been pissed scared out of my mind) to travel into (the north Bronx--no place for a little white guy from the 'burbs).
