Did anybody catch how much money they made?

Off of the first treasure?

At the end of the first movie, Riley says that he only got 1%. I assumed at the time that this meant he got a lot of money, because Cage offered someone $10bil in the first movie, which made me think that the treasure was worth way more than that.

In NT2, Riley says that he only had $5mil and owes $6mil to the IRS. Say the NT1 treasure was only worth $10bil, 1% of that is $100mil not $5mil.

Cage also says that the 10% of the treasure's worth was too much, so he asked for less, but he buys a house that is worth way more than $5mil.

So was the treasure from NT1 worth $500mil or $10bil+?

I dont know but im pretty sure the treasure was worth a billion dollars in the first movie and Cage's character got 1%

Could be wrong though

The treasure was probably worth 1 billion. Gates, Riley and Abigail got 1% of it, that is 10 million, before taxes. Then they divided three ways, where Gates got 25%, Abigail also 25%, and Riley got 50%. This is supported by the end of the first movie. Then in the second movie, Riley is fined 6 million, becoming in debt of 1 million to the IRS, for tax evasion in relation to the 5 million fee he got.

I also only got that they called the treasure worth $10 billion. So I guess we'd have to assume that they split $100 million whatever number of ways... which makes the comments about the house and fleet of jets by Riley somewhat stupid and the $5mil sound like a really bad mistake (or Riley really doesn't know how not to spend money) - I guess we could call this mistakes made by the writers.

On the other hand, we could just pretend that it was worth much less in the end.

The way I understood it was that Riley only had 5mil left of the money he got from the treasure, which I assume would be 50mil, splitting the 100mil with Ben, thats why he owes the IRS more then he has left, he's spent everything but the 5mil he has left and the 6mil he owes the IRS is probably taxes from the 50mil he got in the first place.

I don't know how much money they got.
