Er.....rip off of 'The Mummy'....seriously ...

Wow. This film has soooo many rip-offs from The Mummy and it's sequel The Mummy Returns. I mean, there's way to many to list all of them, but mainly -

1.) Most blatant - Sinclaire (the villain) when he agins his evil powers, becomes almost identical to Imhotep (not physically). I mean, he even does that soul-sucking thing that Imhotep did in both Mummy films.

2.) The character of Danny Freemont is a combination of Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connel. His clothing style is a combination of the two adventure characters (even though he wears his hat the wrong way....)

3.) Um, "Death will come with swift wings to who ever opens...etc." was in both Mummy films, referring to the curse that came upon those who opened the chest containing the book of the dead. Well, the same messagr goes for whoever opens the tomb of Tut....why did they have to use the EXACT same words???

4.) The music. The music in this film was a very noticable rip-off of some of John Williams' (Indiana Jones trilogy) music, as well as music from the Mummy films (Alan Silvestri and Jerry Goldsmith).

There is so much more. I enjoyed the film somewhat, but it wasn't really original in any aspect. Not to mention historically innacurate to every degree. I mean, they even had a bit of Casablanca in the film, such as Azelia/Isla and her fiance/Lazlo, and then Danny/Rick (love triangle).
At the very end, Danny even says the famous line from the end of Casablanca, ".....I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship". He then says "Eh, I heard it from somewhere". So, it wasn't really ripping it off, but referencing it...not obviously though.

I concur with this post 100%. I watched it last night on the hallmark channel. I thought it was going to be a decent movie. Boy was i wrong on that one. Horrible special effects, acting, plot, a complete steal from indiana jones & the mummy. Like stated above. Same music i couldn't believe they could do that! Did they get an ok from the companies who produced the films they stole from? Universal & paramount. Horrible movie don't waste your 3 hrs on it. Indiana jones will never be matched. The mummy still had a decent plot and the acting was good not to mention the humor. but this king tut curse really hit rock bottom.

Also stole a couple of actors from The Mummy, see if you can spot which ones...
