'horror' with HUGE heart

I expected this to be a completely different type of movie based on things I had heard.
But, I was pleasantly surprised to actually tear up at the end and find that this movie was extremely touching on an emotional level. I didn't expect that, and that may be why I enjoyed it so much.

This movie is not a typical 'horror' or ghost story. It's actually a touching drama with supernatural elements.

This movie is really well done.

Do others feel this way?

Ya, I agree with you. I watched this movie on Netflix a long time ago and I quickly realized while watching it that it was no ordinary movie... I became somewhat obsessed with it and told EVERYONE I knew about it. I even forced my Mother to watch it with me, and she HATES anything that could remotely be considered "scary." (I mean, she freaked out during the kitchen scene of Jurassic Park when I was a kid.) By the end of the movie she was in tears, too. I ultimately cancelled my Netflix account due to the unfair hike in fees, but was worried that I would never see El Orfanato again... imagine my surprise when I found it at Target out of the blue for 10 dollars. It immediately went into my cart and into my DVD player when I got home.

It was heartbreaking. I cried, and that doesn't happen often.
