shareForgive me if it may sounds racist, but the reason (I think) why Han keeps eating is because:
It may be difficult to identify various characters among an Asian society, so the director had to build special charactistics carry out by each actor, such as a stand out hair-do, dressing, a special movements... etc, so in Han's case - always eating.
The eating-character often favorites by younger and less experience directors when they try to create more interesting (but secondary) characters, you can identify them at a constantly chewing a mouthful.
You did come off a bit racist but to me I could tell between most of the main characters not because of him eating or the hairstyles, but they werent that hard to tell apart.

So is Steven Soderbergh a "younger and less experience directors" since that was what Brad Pitts character "Rusty" was always doing in Oceans 11. I think it is just a way to show a character is a "cool" customer, so to speak.
in the scene when DK and sean meet and go face to face while Han is admiring the situation, Han is eating panda snacks. They are common snacks shaped as panda bears filled with chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla cream. you can find them at oriental stores. they are quite good. i dont know if these are the items you are referring to but look into them and try them out. strawberry is my favorite.

Eating is one way to show disinterest. Sort of like eating during a office meeting.
I noticed Han had the same eating fixation in Fast & Furious.

if you watch the director's comments during the film, director lin talked about it. han was always smoking in other movies but he couldn't because of the younger audience. so he made han eat instead.

Han use to be a chain smoker as is told to us in Fast Five, he eats and keeps his hands and mouth busy to battle the addiction to smoking as he gave it up for his own reasons.
