Very unrealistic portrayal of the Yakuza

In this movie, the Yakuza is portrayed as ressembling an American-style traditional mob family. The Yakuza is much more diverse and multi-dimensional, with control at every layer of Japanese society. Uncle Yamata evokes Don Fanucci from Godfather II. Its laughable. And where are the tattoos? These mark Yakuza members for life and they all have them, up and down their arms and all over their bodies.

You're looking for realistic in a Fast and the Furious movie? Are you lost?

Hahahahahahaha! This reply has made me laugh hehehehe! Good question!

It also bothered me that none of the actors could pronounce "Yakuza" correctly.
The emphasis is on "Ya", not "ku."
So, "YAH-kuh-za, not "Ya-KOO-za."

reply

you are wrong Ya is correct but U's in japanese have a double O sound so it is in fact Yakoozah

reply

many modern Yakuza don't have tattoos anymore. as the tattoos are very recognizable. sure the uncle would have them but the nephew and all of his lackeys No they likely wouldn't as most places in japan now have restrictions on people with lots of tattoos entering the building.

there is also nothing about the uncle that is mafia don.
