Is the end near for Dancing with the Stars?

https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/dancing-with-the-stars-ending-season-28-could-be-the-last/

Us Weekly reports there have been talks of ending the ABC reality competition next fall with Season 28. "If that happens, the network is hoping to bring back multiple original pros, including Karina Smirnoff, Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and many more," reports Us Weekly. Talk of Dancing ending comes after news that there won't be a spring edition for the first time. It also comes after two back-to-back subpar seasons, including the four-week all-athletes edition earlier this year. “They want to have a great last season if there is just one season left,” a source tells Us Weekly. ALSO: Blame American Idol, not Bobby Bones, for Dancing's spring 2019 benching. https://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2018/12/dancing-with-the-stars-spring-2019/

I watch this crap because my wife does because she has always sat through South Park and the Simpsons with minimal complaint.

But, even I was offended that the worst dancer out of the last 6 won the competition. It has become a popularity contest. Why have judges?

If they want to save this crap, they either have to eliminate the viewer voting or at the very least weigh it far less than it is now, otherwise there will be nothing to save. I know for a fact that my wife and her Dancing cadre were really upset at the winner this last round.

It's been slipping for a while now but this truly was the worst season thus far. And it left a real bad taste in people's mouths. But people are also really fickle so if you eliminate the viewer votes, they might get pissy and stop watching. Who knows at this point?

There is no "viewer voting." Thats all fake. Your "vote" goes nowhere but to a made up number ABC puts out that doesn't mean anything. The show producers decide who stays and who goes.

You could be right (I have to allow that as I have no direct knowledge), but I can't see the logic of letting an unknown like Bobby Bones win over far greater talent, unless it's to find a way to end the show by killing the ratings.

If that could be proved it could result in severe charges.

That's actually true. While it wouldn't carry the legal ramifications of the 1950s game show scandals, there probably would be hell to pay if it was discovered that the audience voting was manipulated.
