Week 1

Erin seems to be off. Wants heel-leads in a dance that shouldn't have them. Adds an "s" to the Lyme in Lyme Disease.

The one judge commentary per dance policy seems odd, but maybe it makes sense since at the start they would all be saying pretty much the same -- rudimentary -- things.

Cheryl did her usual week 1 trick of dancing around the guy to try to make him look good.

Carrie Ann was back to her practice of giving an extra point for being a good looking male.

Early standouts: Debbie, Sasha, Jordan (!), Nick, Vanessa, Frankie, Nikki, Derek, Lindsey (!)

Of course week 1 benefits from weeks and weeks of practice. We'll see who can keep it up after just a week's practice.

Appears they will eliminate two next week -- wow, that's fast! Training must not have gone well for a couple of the competitors.

Why don't they move the show to New York? It's not like they're showing it live on the west coast and would make things a lot easier for Len and Bruno.

reply

Hi, Jes'!
Pretty much agree with most of your comments. I didn't care for the one judge per dance thing. It was as if someone put tape over their mouths, lol.
I don't really have a contestant I'm rooting for this season, but I do hope Frankie can get over his awkwardness about dancing in public. I'd like to see him put everything out there.

reply

Great seeing you here again, Daggerboard!

Yeah, not sure who to root for either. I think I had only heard of about three of them before the season started. Maybe I'll default to rooting for whoever Emma dances with.:)

reply

Lol, yeah, I think I knew two by name and recognized a couple other faces.

reply

Should change the name to Dancing With the Pros because at this point they're the ones we recognize!

reply

It's true, lol.

reply

Nice wrap-up. Everyone has his/her favorites, but the treatment of Terrell Owens was uncalled-for and verged on abuse.

reply

Thanks

Are you still watching? I have been, but just don't have a lot to say about the shows. I haven't really connected with any of the personalities thus far. And nothing has really "wowed", be it the music, sets, or costumes. There's certainly some talent there, but nothing I haven't seen before. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in, lol.

reply

Have been missing a lot of it due to travel and time conflicts, sorry.

Most interesting thing was off-show: the apparent fight between Maks and Vanessa, which resulted in his sitting out a week. They're trying to tamp it down in the media, but apparently Maks finally went too far...

reply

No need for apologies. Just wondered if you got as disinterested as I was getting. Didn't even realize Maks skipped a week. Had to go back and see who Vanessa danced with and it was Alan. Would rather watch him than Maks, but since Maks was back this last week, I guess they resolved the "issue".

reply

The show has the ability to distract me from everyday concerns by being, or appearing to be, a big party where everyone has a lot of fun and some really good presentations are put on so I'm always able to appreciate it on that level, when I find the time to watch, that is. I've been away and have the last two episodes recorded. So what's been happening? (Don't tell me yet. ;))

reply

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think I started watching during a "down" time in my life.

reply

Yes, ever see Sullivan's Travels (the film)? I guess it's like that. We can all use something to smile about from time to time.

reply

I thought I had seen Sullivan's (Mom was/is a fan of Joel McCrea), but watching clips just now, I'm not sure I have. But, yes, we all can use some fun!

reply

Really enjoyable film, if you ever get the chance.
Actually anything directed by Preston Sturges is highly entertaining.
