Help me out

I think most people will tell you that Seasons 4 through 10 have some of the best episodes ever. The characters are fully developed by Season 4, and the show's writing starts to tail off after Season 10. Although there are still excellent episodes outside those parameters, the series is consistently good between S4 and S10.

Are you watching the new episodes or repeats of the older stuff? I haven't watched too many of the new SIMPSONS episodes. I own Season 20 on DVD, but I pretty much lost interest in the new episodes around that point.

I would say Seasons 4-9 are the Golden Age. The show was in its prime. It had no equal. Highly recommended.

Seasons 10-13 are the Silver Age. A fun bunch of episodes. Also recommended.

Seasons 14-17 are probably the Bronze Age. Some good, tolerable episodes, but for me it's when the show started going downhill.

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE is pretty good. A lot of the people who worked on the older episodes came back, but for the most part it feels very much like a Bronze Age SIMPSONS movie. Who knows what kind of film we would have had if it was made twenty years ago.
