Its been a while since I've seen this movie, but I was flipping through the channels and saw the scene with Rambo running through the jungle and placing that claymore in some bushes.
Anyways, I don't think the explosion from a claymore would be that massive. I mean, the blast radius looked more like a small nuke or something.
Did Rambo actually place the claymore under a bomb? There is something that looks kind of bomb-like in the bushes. So I'm wondering about this.
Yep, there was a Tallboy bomb dropped by the Brits during WWII that was partially lodged into the ground, undetonated. Rambo rigs it with the claymore to leave a nice little surprise for the soldiers to find.
Great scene and awesome movie, easily the best of the series IMO
First blood was great for its time and different in tone from the rest of the movies in the series. I watched it when I was 6 or 7 years old and couldn't grasp how good it was back then. Re-watched the whole series recently and while they're all great action flicks, this installment is the one I like best - it's very intense, got a great cast and the action was more "realistic" and gritty than the rest. I think it's the Aliens to First Blood's Alien.
Only thing missing was Trautman (RIP) telling the merc leader Graham McTavish how badass Rambo was when said merc starts talking about how he's been sent to do the devil's work lol.
I agree about the action scenes, they do seem more realistic in this one. In the follow ups (2 and 3) Rambo is like a one man army, in this one he has some help which seems more believable.
However, I haven't seen Last Blood yet, I'm waiting for it to become available on cable TV but I rank the films in this order from best to worst -
First Blood
Rambo
First Blood part 2
Rambo 3, I would like to just forget that it was ever made. I thought it was kinda sucky.
I hear you man, lots of people like First Blood more than this movie, just like how people like Alien more than Aliens. To each their own. I love First Blood, but I like this one the most. The CGI is a bit dated, but that can be easily overlooked if you consider the good aspects of the film.
There are lots of good aspects of Rambo 2008 I totally agree with you there, first blood to me though explored the psychology of Rambo and what he’s been through more though and that’s why I rank it the highest.
