Wow

Watched this randomly recently, as it's on Amazon Prime at the moment.....and what can I say?
It is one of those rare films that has left a lasting impression, one that I would gladly see again repeatedly and one I would keep on DVD....the extras seem an interesting point to follow up on too from reading other comments on this board!
It was such a beautiful film in every way, a delight for the senses with such a well told story which lead you through so many emotions. Gorgeous locations, visually impressive and the calibre of the characters and acting was engrossing.
For want of anything better, I described it to a friend (as a recommendation) as something like a Guillermo Del Toro film but more colourful and less scary and dark. Although having said that a certain scene where two of the 'story' characters get killed was a bit of a shock!
Overall an excellent film, one of my favourites.....and I think from reading this board that most (if not all) people who have watched it have similar views.

It truly is an amazing a beautiful film, which is in my all time favourite top 10 list. Can't watch it enough times.

I couldn't add anything else about it to what you said. I feel the same, although I've now seen it about 6 times. With each viewing, I see things I missed the previous times. It's very rich.

Okay, so I did have a *little* more to add.

It may be my favourite film of all time. Difficult to choose just one, but if I had a gun to my head, I suspect I'd choose this.

I think it's his single best film.
