to the little boy that was with the princess they kidnapped, was he left to die?

There's a deleted scene that shows the priest (the same one who presides over the wedding ceremony) is in the carriage and is also left behind with the nephew. Though it wasn't clear that the bandits knew this, so maybe they did leave him to die, technically.
