Saw this last night
After seeing the Hobbit films and Lee's portrayal of the complex Thranduil, I wanted to see some of his other work. In the Hobbit behind the scenes on the extended dvd, Peter Jackson said he wanted Lee to play Thranduil after seeing the Fall. So i was like, ok, I got to watch that first.
And, wow. What a hidden masterpiece! I was immediatley drawn in from the old Hollywood feel, the music, and that adorable little girl. She was just precious. And Lee, my God, why don't we see him in more stuff? He is an amazing actor. He had such a beautiful "father/daughter" dynamic and chemistry with the child actress, that truly made you believe that she opened his eyes to the idea there was more to the world. The scene where he is sitting beside her after her surgery. Ugh, my heart was in my throat.
I do wish the ending had been more clear and that she had mentioned they kept in touch over the years. I would hate the idea that once they went their seperate ways from the hospital that they never saw one another again (other than her seeing him in the movies). I wanted to know that Roy Walker was okay.
Anyways, I will be heading over to Amazon to buy myself a copy of the dvd, because it is worth every penny and worth a yearly rewatch!
