Ryan Reynolds
I thought he was really good in this, I thought the movie faltered when they went out on the boat, but I liked it on the whole.

shareIn my opinion, Ryan Reynolds is becoming quite an actor. He has proved himself able to play very different roles: comedy, drama, action hero . . . and the list goes on.
As for the movie, I got the feeling that it could be better. I liked it, it is just that . . . it is missing something.
If you liked Ryan Reynolds, watch The Nines, his performance is outstanding.
I loved this movie! Its one of my favs of RR. He is such an amazing actor and everything I watch I love. I may not love all the movies but I love his characters.

Ryan was FANTASTIC in this movie!!
He is so good with all emotions, I thought he did a great job with this movie.
Check out "Fireflies in the Garden" if you want to see good acting from him, and everyone else.
Yes, he was just stunning in this and The Nines. Unfortunately, neither film is quite worthy of his performance. I hope he gets lots of chances to be this good in better films with more exposure, because he's not widely known as a dramatic actor and that's a shame.

I agree, this movie (in my opinion) was Ryan's "shining moment" as a lead actor--even better than Van Wilder.
He brilliantly displayed someone who "snapped" when confronted with a life-changing event.
But yes, I also agree the boat scene was crap , but otherwise, great movie, very underrated.
He was really great here. The way he looked when the doctor broke the news to him. Heart wrenching is the word I would describe. And it's not only him, I felt it too. When he broke down at the side of the curb, that was really really touching. I was literally bawling here, I just really really think Ryan Reynolds is a brilliant actor. The range of emotions he can portray are very strong and how he can even transmit it to the audience.. Awesome.
were all alone now.. i need something to sing about..
I just watched it again. I noticed a few things that he really paid attention to detail and was consistent on his emotions and performance. He presented comedy and drama and that transitions were immaculate. Being an actor myself I really focus on these point in my acting. This movie had its flaws like the whole clock setting forward explanation being incorrect. It also had some errors on continuity but it never came from the actor. RR was fabulous!

Late to this, but totally agree! Like another poster said, the scene with the doctor was really good, the way he just started shaking... Seemed totally genuine. And all the other scenes, he balanced the comedy and drama very very well. He was also great in other movies, like The Nines, Definitely,Maybe, Buried, Paperman, etc. He is a very underrated actor, I'm hoping his newer movies like The Voices and Deadpool will make people appreciate his talents. Very very VERY good in this, though.
