British films and American audiences and nudity

I thought the nudity was cool, no problem here, but I did think about the fact that you won't see an American film like this with so many beautiful women nude. What you would see in America is an unattractive stripper, B movie teen trash, violence and soft core porn. I'm really trying to think of one American film that shows, and talks about, how some men, artists, or creative types, are obsessed and amazed by beautiful women, and I can't think of one.

America is a very sexually confused country, we are Puritans and outlaws, so naturally our sexual identity is in the closet, we act like repressed religious fanatics but secretly we are all obsessed with sex, and most not in a good way.

I'm not surprised at all the weird comments on this board, I guarantee you most, if not all, are Americans.

Nudity is beautiful and natural, and to be obsessed about it and to make art about it is a very healthy, beautiful thing.

Maybe. certainly parts of America seem to be very prudish in their response to nudity.

But, as always, it is impossible to stereotype 300 million people. Those who object to nudity will always have a much larger voice than those who accept it as natural and don't feel the need to congratulate a film for having it.

As an American woman I had absolutely no problem with the nudity so please step down from your pedestal.
In response to your query, Art School Confidential has a very similar plot to this but takes it in a different direction though there is no nudity in it.
I don't think there are a lot of films in general which touch on the topic you're looking for, I think you're picking on America to single us out as the ones who aren't creating these films. Also, there are plenty of naked women in American cinema. Hell, they've made entire websites dedicated to this (mrskin.com, etc) it's just that the nudity is generally for a love scene rather than just observation.

With Cashback you see nudity for the sake of accentuating feminine beauty, not as part of a sex scene or any other sexually related scene. On top of that, this film actually shows some pubes. That's what sets this apart from pretty much any American movie. American films rarely if ever show any nudity without a strong sexual innuendo and if they do pubes are pretty much off limits, unless it's soft core porn.

The only thing I disagree with is the Puritan reference. That suggests this it is a natural American condition that we see a gross fake blonde with fake boobs. Look at the movies in the 70s and early 80s. There is no sexual confusion. Something happened (and I am hesitant to blame it all on Reagan), but our attitude towards sexuality regressed. Mine certainly hasn't, and I am sure I am not alone.

Less than decent movie, ironically ended up like every American: guy breaks up with girl, can't get over girl, finds new girl, old girl kisses him in the picosecond that new girl is watching, he can't seem to explain himself when he chases after her, and then they get together after he invites her to something, or sees her after a period of time has passed.

no, go ahead, blame it on reagan...

everything in the last 30 years, from the diminishing middle-class (via trickle-down economics) to the rise of political pundits on television (through the ending of the fairness doctorine) can be blamed on reagan. this was the guy who sold arms on the black market to iranians so they would wait until after the elections to release hostages; all so carter would look incompetent and lose.

i'm sure he did something along the way to our mojo's.

I think you're obsessed with stereotyping.
