Whats the message of the movie?

Hi guys,
I just watched the movie and I liked it to some extent. But what I wonder about is the message of it. Im sure theres something that it wants to convey but I cant figure out what.

So please share your thoughts with me.

Thank you

This is what I took from it-
beauty is everywhere, you just have to slow down and take the time to see it. The protagonist first gains extra hours in his life but trades it in for money, so to speak. Throughout the film he learns how to appreciate time, to slow it down, so that he can find the beauty that's all around. I think the best line that portrays this is-

"once upon a time I wanted to know what love was. Love is there if you want it to be- you just have to see that it's wrapped in beauty and hidden away between the seconds of your life. If you don't stop for a minute- you might miss it."
This also happens to be the last line of the film, or one of them.

But, like you, I've only seen the movie once. Anytime I really want to analyse a film and find it's full messages I have to watch it again. So you should get a hold of it and watch it again and see what you get out of it :)

Here endth the comment.

Most of what the second poster stated..

Also a big part of the film's underlying themes was dealing with sexualrepression/sexuality and sexualoppression. And the way our actions are controlled by sexualattraction. The Ego-centric boss was the least subtile character to expres these views, note his coffee mug with the text 'THE Boss' on it. something as small as a text like that was needed for him as a character to make himself feel big about himself.

If you get around to watching it another time, keep an eye out for this second layer dealing with sexuality.

And obviously it was an homage to the art scene or to the artists themself and the unique vision they share.

I can't exactly remember what Ben said to his ex girlfriend at the party. She said something about she was wrong because she never gave him a chance to make her feel good about herself. Then he said you can't do that for someone else. Maybe she said something else, I don't remember.

Ex: "I never gave you a chance to make me happy."
Ben: "Nobody else can do that for you."

Stop trying to find messages in movies and just enjoy them.

Some people enjoy movies for their messages. Stop trying to tell others how to enjoy movies and just enjoy them :P j/k

I saw this movie on one hand as an ode to femininity (from a male perspective) and on the other hand as an attempt to illustrate the different feelings / attitudes men can have towards women throughout their lives and how these feelings / attitudes influence them.
