I read that book at random when it was given to me 3 years after I saw this movie. Either this movie ripped it off, or it's a giant coincidence.

Better to be the MotherF#!$%R than the MotherF#!$%ED.

I though the exact same thing. I'm surprised Nicholson Baker didn't sue.

The story in the novel is completely different though. Different characters and situations.

The idea can be found all over the place -- very common fantasy.
