Not only is this the only romantic film for men that I've ever heard of, Cashback is imo also one the most beautiful films I've ever seen. The visuals are great, the soundtrack is amazing, the story is very touching, ... There is basically nothing about this film I dislike, perhaps with exception of the women chosen for the nude shots in the film (they look so unnatural). So really... Why is it that barely anyone has ever heard of this gem?
shareThe editing was great, no doubt. The rest was pretty 'meh' though. With a plot as interesting as being able to freeze time at will, all we get is an emo kid (creepily) drawing naked women and buying sodas.
It's a 'could have been' to me. It could have been a GREAT movie, instead we get a mediocre one with a solid plot and above average editing...

To me, this movie was way beyond just a story about some emo kid drawing naked women, buying sodas and being able to freeze time. To me, it was a story about how men in general think / feel about women and how female beauty can frustrate or inspire men... a story rarely ever told at all in a more than superficial way, but here told not only in detail but in a very beautiful and inspring way...
I guess it's a matter of taste... or maybe character.
Because it was English made, and not marketed in the states.

I'm Belgian. In my country, we get a fair share of British & American movies alike (including the marketing).
So being British doesn't have anything to do with it, although poor marketing may have played a role ;-)
Sure it does. Belgium and England are small markets compared to the US. Not all English made movies are marketed here in the states for the simple reason of they probably won't fill many seats in the theaters. So why show them at all? The US is a fairly huge market for movies, and movies are made to make money, and for them to make money they have to fill seats. And sell popcorn, soda pop, Milk Duds, pretzels and cheese and such as that.

That still doesn't explain why I never heard of the movie before I picked it up at the bargain bin a few years ago?!
