Do you feel S13 could be the end?

Just reading between the lines, various articles seem to think that S13 could be the last. If we get a 14th season it may be cut short to tie up any loose threads? The boys indicate that 300 episodes milestone which falls during S14? Also, the boys have both started new ventures in their own personal lives, Jared, starting up his bar, and Jensen recently opening up his own family brewery? Which makes me wonder deeply if the end is nigh and looming.

How are your feelings on this subject now, and is the show showing any signs of coming to its natural end? Would love to know your thoughts??

Bringing some of the conversation over from the ep title thread, I do think the fact that Jensen went and got that big tattoo now could be yet another indicator that he knows the show has an end date. Of course, if he wants to keep acting, that tat is going to get in the way, but other actors have them and depending on the role, it either doesn't matter, or they get covered up by make-up.

But I do think it's significant in his case that he felt free enough to do it now.

My feeling is that there is an end date on the books, and it's probably a shortened 14th season to get them to #300. Also, it really does look like the CW has given the green light to the spin-off for at least one season, but rumor has it for two seasons. I think, as with most CW shows now - except the superhero shows - the spin-off is probably getting the half-season treatment. So if a shortened 14th season is guaranteed and takes the series to the end, then it will likely air in the fall of 2018, with the first season of the spin-off picking up in the winter/spring of 2019.

Yes, it should end. 13 seasons is more than enough. Plus, where can the show possibly go from here? They fought the Devil, God's sister and now are dealing with the Devil's son. There is nowhere they can go, it's best to start wrapping things up and giving the loyal fans a satisfying conclusion.

reply

I still think they want to get to 300 and Jared keeps asking fans to support the show so they get picked up for 14. That being said I don't think they want to do full seasons after this one. Jared has said a few times now that he and Jensen would be on board for a Netflix type series of 4-6 eps. There are negotiations going on supposedly and with the surprisingly good ratings so far they may just get what they want.

I agree about them not wanting to do full seasons. Since it's been announced, I've wondered if the spin-off was a way to make that happen, so we'll get half a season of Supernatural, and the spin-off will fill in for the rest of the season.

Is the spinoff getting any love in the fandom? I haven't seen a lot of buzz about it other than from the producers and a few online fanmags. Even the J's haven't promoted it much (if at all) at conventions or in interviews.

reply

What/Who is the spin-off about? I'm out of the loop.

reply

They're doing a spin-off about a bipedal talking bear who loves honey, whose best friend is a bouncing bipedal talking tiger. Because of this, they have to hide in the forests away from humanity. Their only relation to the outside world will be a young boy named Christopher Robin, who will bring them food and supplies.

Wayward Sisters, i.e. Jody and the girls. I guess the first half of season 13 will be helping to set it up. The next episode is the first of several episodes devoted to it (Episode 3 introduces us one of the new characters). I know the mid-season finale will be featuring the spin-off, and I think there might be at least one more episode between episode 3 and the mid-season finale that will be helping to set that up.

Wow I did not know any of this.
Thanks for posting!

I do hope there is some love for this show?

I've always adored Sheriff Jody Mills but I do struggle a bit with Claire Novak as a character as she is so god damn ungrateful and petulant!

I just looked the show up on IMDB and I see that Sheriff Donna Hanscomb (Briana Buckmaster) is listed as a character.
My god I heart her so I am feeling it!

I will be amazed if the spinoff lasts a season. Seems like they are centering on Claire as the primary character? I could be wrong tho. But Claire? Good God, no. I like Jody and Donna in small doses. Alex/Alec - whatever - eh. Now granted I’m not the demographic they are shooting for but even if I were, I would have zero interest in it. My daughter is in that group and she pretty much feels the same.

I am the opposite, I find Claire annoying, and condescending character. I have always loved Alex, two very different characters. I think Jodi and Alex have a very special chemistry together and Clair is the odd one out in the mix, she doesn't fit. I am not so keen on Donna, she's taken a while to grow on me, but she's a good match with Jodi which is what is needed to help run a show, Jodi I think will need a sidekick and she's a good of fit than anyone so far. I just hope Claire isn't the main character whom they are focusing on. That would be SO dull.

reply

I think Jodi is going to be the Giles character and Claire is going to be the Buffy type leader of the pack of "special" girls. For some reason Singer and Dabb think Kathryn is a fan favorite.
I agree about Alex. I liked her from the start.

reply

I'm actually really looking forward to the spin-off. I hope it is back to basics. Please, no more end of the world stuff. I like the idea of Jodi being a Giles like character. I must be the rare fan that actually likes the Claire character. I'm interested in seeing how she and the other girls get on hunting on a permanent basis.

reply

Well with that news, that might completely turn me off the spin-off. As I don't think that Claire is leader material to help special girls. Jodi should be head cast as I think Jodi is the bigger fan favourite if anyone of the three are to be considered.

Hi Bella. The Claire character I think is exactly what life made her to be. First her father runs off to let an Angel take control of him. Then her father is killed and becomes Castiel. Then Claire's mother abandons her to search for something. So yes Claire is really messed up. When she called Dean and Sam (episode Don't You Forget About Me) to report that she suspected there were vampires she told Sam then that she felt left out of the Jody and Alex family. The attitude she has is her protection from being hurt again. She doesn't want to be responsible to anyone or have anyone look out for her.

reply

I totally get the whole set up, but her attitude just irritates a lot of people and her acting isn't much better. I think she was a poor choice is all I am saying.

reply

I agree...a very poor choice..

reply

I agree there are times I think the girl overacts the part.

reply

At first, I thought to give her the benefit of the doubt. As I often think sometimes people are a bit hard on characters before they have had a chance to blossom. But in this case, I started off liking Claire and her backstory but sadly that fondness has diminished quite a lot. In fact, she overacts most of the time. Saying this, she does have the odd quality that occasionally still gives me a spark. But those moments are rare these days. I felt the same about Charlie that I started to like her, but then she became really, really irritating.
