Premiere-so how was it?

I loved it, Jack aka Lucifer's son is a great addition to the show, i wont give too much away but its pretty interesting how they've written him, i'm not sure whether to want him dead or to root for him. But yeah its a great premiere, the show right now imo is just as good as its always been, this season is already off to a great start.

Also not much of a spoiler but the opening recap song is Nothing Else Matters by Metallica which kicked fucking ass. As much as i love Carry On My Wayward Son i wouldn't mind if Nothing Else Matters replaced it as the season recap song.

I enjoyed it, read a lot of other people's views before I watched - as an aside I am really sad that this site has not really taken off as it means that I have to go to Previously TV for most of the interaction and I absolutely hate it there - they have these "mods" that behave like school teachers/prefects - drives me insane. They do have loads of people on there though and so you get lots of good discussion.
I don't particularly like the direction they seem to be taking with Dean i.e. him drinking again and deciding that everyone is dead and that Jack is evil all stuff that is going to come back and bite him. Anyway hope we get more action on this site - although of course it is also my fault for not posting, I have spent the Summer reading fanfic though!

It was pretty good. Starting up right after last season's episode was interesting. I figured it would hit Dean the hardest. Losing his mom and Cas put him into a emotional roller coaster. His plea to Chuck/God was heartfelt because you could see how much hurt he's going through. Not sure if Sam's handling it too well either but his focus was getting Jack away made it hard for me to see if he was hurting just as bad as Dean.

I'm on the fence too about Jack. I'm hoping being with the guys will keep him from turning bad and maybe having to rescue them when something comes after them.

I Finally FF/watched the episode last night to get it off my dvr. I'm sincerely not interested in anything that doesn't really involve Dean, not making any bones about it - or even less so than usual. If Dabb et. al. don't want Dean involved or only peripherally anymore, then that's fine, but I won't be involved either. So there's a lot I'm going to be skimming over from here to the end, and judging by what I did watch of this episode, I didn't miss a whole lot anyway. Besides, the writing is so one-dimensional now that it's incredibly easy to figure out what's going on even while FF'ing. No mysteries here.

And I'm not happy that Dean is so obviously being set up to be wrong about absolutely everything - probably even his name at this point. Again, no subtlety in the writing, no surprises, no mystery. Plus, the Singer/Dabb mandate of the last two years that Dean not be allowed to get "the kill" whenever Sam is anywhere in the vicinity is still clearly in effect, and that's never not annoying and certainly keeps me from being a fan of Sam's when he's used to try and make Dean look lesser than all the time. And I don't want to resent Sam, it's not fun and it makes watching the show even harder than it already is. If you want me to be a fan of both brothers - and that doesn't seem to be a concern of any showrunner anymore - then you have to at least be fair-handed with the action.

Occasionally I did try and give a few moments to see what this Jack brat was going to be like, and all I really got out of that experiment is the realization that the actor really can't act. OTOH, he seems perfect for the spin-off. I'll leave it at that. Honestly, I get the impression he's being groomed to eventually become a wayward's boyfriend.

Sure, I enjoyed Dean's two significant scenes - praying and wrapping up Castiel's bod - because everyone knows he's naturally awesome at that stuff, and it's just about all they'll write for him anymore. But I actually liked more his honest conversation with the sheriff about who they are and what they do. She was the one guest star I enjoyed. Even the guy who played her kid was okay - certainly better acted than Jack.

Otherwise, the episode failed in the worst possible way in that it was so boring, IMO. A total snooze-fest - that in and of itself warrants judicious use of the FF button.

Of course Luci wasn't going to kill Mary, for no logical reason whatsoever aside from Dabb wanting them around.
