Looks like the strike is on...

shareI don't think the strike is on as yet - just that they are one step closer to a strike.

They have authorized a walkout. Unless there is a last minute deal made it looks pretty likely. And I think studios and networks hold all the power right now.
I guess so - I really don't know much about it so can't comment. I just meant that as yet the strike is not on.

And just voting to authorise them to strike doesn't mean the strike is on. It gives them better leverage to negotiate - at least that's what I understand.
Maybe it will be for the best. Allow them time to regroup and freshen up before the season ends. It must not be rash taking on twenty two episodes and this way they can get a break.
shareThe strike won't go on forever. It might work out for the best. It will give J2 the break they want. The strike should be over in enough time to get 13 episodes in Season 13. If they did a full season 14 then they could end the year with episode 300 (and decide what form the show will take after the milestone).
shareI think studios and networks hold all the power right now.
I worry about what the strike will do for the struggling CW network. They have trouble getting viewers as it is. Not having new episodes for months into the fall could be devastating. Hopefully this will be short lived.
shareYeah, I find I'm watching more late night shows than prime time ones. More entertaining. I especially like Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher.
shareThe strike has been averted.

I saw that on the news last night. Whew!!
shareThat's good!
shareI almost wished it had gone off to provide a delay to season 13. As much as I would like 23 episodes, it would be nice if there was enough time to correct everything that was a disaster in season 12. Dabb can probably barrel right into season 13 now without much interference. What good are 23 episodes if Dean only gets one or two?
shareObviously no strike is good for the entire industry. At the same time, Supernatural is in desperate need of a time out that a strike could have been a good thing - give them more time to fix whatever obvious BTS problems they're having.
A shortened season 13 may have also given us more Dean and Sam each week instead of the increasingly less and less we get, because there would be fewer episodes and the guys would have already had a lot of time off.
Missed opportunity.
Great, for everyone involved.
