There are a few more spoilers for the final 2 episodes popping up. Here's the one I think has the most.

As the British Men of Letters start to make their move, “people that Sam and Dean know/love pay the price,” forcing the brothers to take “a much stronger role in the wider hunter community” as generals, executive producer Andrew Dabb previews. Mary also faces a difficult battle with the Brits: She, “more than Sam and Dean, is on the inside, so her journey out may be a little bit more complicated,” Dabb notes. Meanwhile, Cas’ return brings “a lot of clarity” about “why he’s been in Heaven for so long” and “his own point of view on why he went.” And as the impending birth of Lucifer’s Nephilim offspring nears, “everyone is going to activate more and more.” Also on tap: the returns of Jody Mills and her surrogate daughter Alex, and “two surprise appearances, one by a relative newcomer and one by an old favorite.”

SEASON FINALE (MAY 18): The two-hour finale – the first episode deals with the Brits, while the second is Lucifer-centric – is “big and, I hope, somewhat bold and, in some ways, heartbreaking,” Dabb shares. The closer “also opens up some new stories for Season 13 in a very interesting way.”

Who could be this "relative newcomer"? and this old favorite? Hmmm

I'm not sure. To be honest, I knew about Jody, but Alex is a bit of a surprise for me. The other two appearances? For relative newcomers . . . I don't know. How new is new? Does it mean new relative to the old favorite? If that's the case, then I guess it depends on how long the old favorite has been around. Someone like Claire would be new relative to Donna, who would be new relative to Garth, who would be new relative to Michael, and Michael would be new in comparison to Bobby. If it just means relative newcomer in a general sense, then I guess it could be someone from this season who was new. I doubt it'll be the twins, because they're supposed to be in 20. I doubt it will be Mick, although it would be a surprise to see him as a spirit. Eileen's fairly new.

There are pretty strong rumors that the old favorite is Garth. I would like the newcomer to be Mick but I don't see it. It's probably Eileen or maybe Lily Sunder.

I would assume the relative new comer would be Toni and the old fav would be Jody (or maybe Garth since they let that little nugget of info out). I knew that Sam and Dean would end up taking charge of the American hunters and organizing them against the Brits. I am really hoping that the "heartbreaking" part of the finale means the end of Mary.

Again, like last season it sounds like the finale is going to have little to do with the brothers and more to do with all the other characters we don't really care about.

Oh well it is what it is.

I would assume the relative new comer would be Toni and the old fav would be Jody

But Toni is supposed to be back for 20, 21, and 22, I think, and Jody is already mentioned. I think it has to be two other people. Since Garth has been mentioned more this season than he has in a while, I'm guessing he'll be one of them.

the minute the men of letters were up front about exterminating monsters no matter what they did Garth was always going to be an issue.

I wouldn't be surprised they bring him back just to kill him or have him suffer in such a way he turns from the brothers because of the MoL. But I'm a little ray of sunshine like that.

And I'm guessing that we'll have more than one person die too, one due to the BMoL (22) and one due to Lucifer (23).

Probably.

Though this idea that Sam and Dean are becoming generals? Carver had them interacting with other hunters on the phone, giving info, having Garth taking Bobby's role.
Basically Carver had the US hunters slowly evolving into a hunter police force without the BMoL.

And having the BMoL be the catalyst of the boys becoming generals doesn't change the fact Dabb had Mary being part of a death squad, Sam sign up after being in a room where extermination methodology was discussed and had Sam and Dean sit in a car and give up the name of an ally when they were told that gas bombs were used indiscriminately against a monster type.

Honestly, I have no idea why they had Dean and Sam working with the BMoL. It's not strictly necessary for the plot as it currently stands. I mean, fair enough if they want us to see how bad the BMoL are. I can live with that, but why not show us the BMoL doing the same things we've already seen them do with one or two small changes . . . maybe at the start they could've had Mick come in to help with Toni. He could've said that he'd broken away from the BMoL and was trying to stop them, but overtime we see that he's really a secret agent for the BMoL. It could've still taken a while for him to gain the trust of the Winchesters. He still could've kept his philosophy change over time and the same ending for him could've happened when he refused to continue spying for Dr. Hess. Mary could have still gone to the BMoL if they wanted to keep a wedge between she and her sons. The audience would still know how 'evil' of an organization the BMoL is, but no longer at the expense of Dean and Sam. Plus, the reveal that Mick wasn't all that he said he was would've been enough of a time killer before we start to see him slowly change his perspective after working with the Winchesters.

At the moment, that's all I have in the way of a reason for having Dean and Sam work with the BMoL - TPTB needed a way to draw this out until the final few episodes and were wasting time . . . unless they're going to use this working with the BMoL for something else, like a way to drive a wedge between Dean and Sam or some other reason we're not privy to yet. That still doesn't explain why they had Sam and Dean being shown outright how the BMoL operate and then Sam being told that their plans were for extermination of ALL monsters before he decided to join. I guess they could've kept everything the same except that last one of him being told that, and it'd still be annoying to see Dean and Sam miss red flag after red flag, but it wouldn't have required him to change his philosophy on good monsters.

I don't get it. I guess we'll have to see when the season is over, but I'm guessing that we're supposed to see the Winchesters as clean in all of this going by what Dabb has said in interviews so far . . . but then the show he's been describing in interviews isn't exactly the same show I've been watching, so maybe I'm wrong about that.

This has been a WTF season all along - especially this latter part. It's certainly not my Sam and Dean I'm watching on the screen. They've been hit with the gullible stick or something.

It's gone beyond absurd by this point. Having Ketch kill monsters of people they've let go is one thing, because it shows that the Winchesters drive into town, save whoever by killing whatever, and then hit the road again without looking back, but Toni torturing Sam and everything that the BMoL have done wrong in front of the brothers has been totally ignored . . . most of it's been done after Dean said that they were out at the first sign of trouble. And it's not like they joined to help their Mom. They haven't even seen Mary since they started working with the BMoL.

So, we're just supposed to take it as Sam thinking everything he's seen about them is a better way than he's known his entire life, and that's why he's thriving under the BMoL, but it's not like the red flags haven't been staring him in the face the whole time. And Dean? Well, Dean went from being confident in telling Mary that what they do makes the world a better place to being told that his way is crap by Sam (RND), Mary (The Raid), and Sam again (SBHaH). After being tricked into working with the BMoL for however long without any problems, he didn't really have a valid reason not to join when his brother who'd been tortured by them was telling him it's what he wanted to do. Since then, he's totally checked out by ever increasing increments each episode, but he's the one who should in theory be looking for any small infraction and saying, 'That's it. We're out,' and he hasn't. I'm guessing it's because he's so disillusioned with everything that he's just plodding along has become completely apathetic to everything around him, but if he's so unhappy, shouldn't he be looking for a way to get out as soon as possible? I'm guessing that Mary and then Sam siding against him is what's lead to this disillusionment as much as anything, but again I'm guessing because we have been given very little else.

You're right. I think the end of last season had very little to do with them as soon as Chuck came into the picture, and this season has followed through on having as little to do with them as possible throughout much of it.

Well, I've made my feelings known about this season and every thing I have thought would happen has been wrong. So....

I think Garth will die after reporting that the BoL (and probably Mary) wiped out his Pack. Mary's difficult exit from the BoL will probably be her killing Ketch, Toni, and the entire American BoL force all by herself. Sam and Dean being generals probably means everyone worships Sam while Dean polishes Sam's boots, makes everyone meals and cleans all the weapons. No mention of Crowley so he probably dies. Cas realizes that he needs to spend more time in heaven so no one has to explain why he isn't in chunks of episodes next year. Finally.....Season 13 is the set up for Wayward Daughters and Dabb convinces Jensen to become re-occurring so he doesn't have to write anymore Dean in the woods episodes. Miss anything?

Dabb did make a comment about this season finale being "more traditional". I hope that means he learned his lesson from last season. However it also sounded like he didn't learn the most important lesson (as we have witnessed all season) that if it isn't about the brothers it WILL NOT WORK!!

All we can hope is that he will put a little more effort into the episode this time.

I'm wondering if the recent newcomer is Adam Rose as Aaron Bass. Or maybe his Golem, a long shot I know. Have no clue who the old favorite might be.

Maybe Frank? I loved Frank....I refuse to believe he is dead.

I liked Frank also but am pretty sure the Levi's ate him up. He was a isolationist and may have escaped. But deep down I don't think so.

I like this idea. They did bring Aaron in earlier in the season, and if the BMoL are related to the Thule in any way, it would make sense to have him there.

That is something else I wondered about when did the show start going twenty three episodes? Did they feel it was needed for a complete story?

I was just looking at this again. I saw someone on another site say that the Walt in the i believe in the little tree topper spoiler page is the same Walt in DSotM and looked into it. That person was right. Same actor and everything. This couldn't be the surprise appearance of an 'old favorite' Dabb was talking about in this interview, could it? Would you consider Walt to be an old favorite?
