Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, except the promo makes it look like it's a MotW episode, and that might get a few more people interested in it if they think it'll be less BMoL (It won't be, because they'll try to fill the time with some side story, but it'll appear that way, and maybe it'll draw in more viewers).
Honestly, I hope the fact that last night's episode matched the series low of the Perez episode right before hiatus was somewhat impacted by east coast Dean and maybe even some Cas fans tweeting very badly about both episodes, and telling fans who hadn't seen it yet not to bother, thus influencing west coast fans and those who had it on their dvr but hadn't watched it yet.
I know I deleted it unwatched after being told there was literally no point at all for a Dean fan to tune in.
I swear it's looking very personal between Dabb and Jensen. It's the only explanation I can come up with anymore as to why Dean has been literal wallpaper all season long, except for "Regarding Dean" - and word has it from one of the cons that Jensen had to actually ask/beg for an episode for his character which resulted in that particular plot device. If that's true, then if Jensen hadn't asked, we wouldn't have even gotten that.
And it's got nothing to do with reduced work load or babies. Jared's work load is the same as Jensen's, yet the writers are tasked with insuring that Sam at least has screentime with guest stars and heroic stuff to do regardless of how much or little he is in every episode. Contrast that to Dean/Jensen who apparently doesn't even get the camera pointed toward him anymore even if he is standing around on the same set.
Every time I've been in a fandom where one actor was treated this shoddily, so much so that fans started speculating about bad blood BTS, it has always turned out to be that this was indeed the case - it was personal on the part of the showrunner.
"and word has it from one of the cons that Jensen had to actually ask/beg for an episode for his character which resulted in that particular plot device. If that's true, then if Jensen hadn't asked, we wouldn't have even gotten that."
I don't recall the specifics now, but I saw it talked about again on twitter last night and was reminded about it. My instinct is to think this came out of a M&G report, which makes sense because it's during those meetings that the guys are a little more free with what they talk about, whereas they don't want to be caught on camera not spouting the company line.
I don't think anyone really believes the promos anymore. My theory is if Dean is a part of the story or if *gasp* they actually give him an episode, the ratings go up the next week. Every time they ignore Dean (or both Sam and Dean) the ratings go down. I was afraid we might really hit a .5 this year. Now I'm pretty sure we will hit a .4 and no one is to blame more than Dabb. That would cut the ratings in half this year from the premiere. Someone HAS to realize it is not the show. The fans are still here. They just need a new show runner.
