Castiel/Misha and his future on Supernatural

Misha, Jensen and Jared have all stated at one time or another that they can't imagine Supernatural without Castiel. Misha's status as a special star and his venture into network television had me wondering if that is still the case. What does everyone think about his elevation in the credits and his brief stint on NBC's Timeless might mean?

What do you think? Can the show go on without Castiel? What would you suggest as a storyline going forward for his character. We were promised Warrior Castiel this season and so far that hasn't been the case. Just curious.

reply

OTOH what would we do without this guy...

seriously what is the deal with the tape ball???

I think his elevation in the credits is a way to honor him as a fan favorite.

I don't think his stint on Timeless means anything. Timeless is Kripke's show and I don't think it's a coincidence that both Misha and Jim were given a spot on the series. Misha also did Ringer a few years ago. All I ever heard him say is that he wants to stay on SPN until the end. I don't think he's going anywhere.

I believe the show can absolutely go on without Castiel but it won't. He's a fan favorite, he as an active, passionate and vocal fanbase, the actor does his own PR and with J2 wanting less time in front of the camera, I don't think the producers have any intention of letting go of Castiel or Crowley. The only story I ever suggest for Castiel is for him to have an angel friend who doesn't die lol.

I agree but seriously what is the deal with the tape ball!!

Do you think maybe his own spinoff at some point?

reply

I love Misha Collins and Castiel, but the SPN showrunners can't even create a good storyline for him on THIS show! I don't think a spin-off would be plausible.
That aside, though Castiel is not my favorite character, Misha is the first person from the cast who I would like to know in person.

Hey guys, your links are no longer clickable for me. Is it because I use a tablet?

reply

They aren't clickable but you can see them if you drag your cursor over the link copy it and then paste it in your search bar.

"the SPN showrunners can't even create a good storyline for him on THIS show! "

Lol! How would you like to see him be used on the show?

The board is in its infancy. It doesn't have a lot of functionalities but it's getting updated. It already changed to look even more like IMDb. I hope the programmer can add emojis and html after a while.

reply

I don't think he will have a spin off. Many Castiel fans disagree but I don't believe a spin off based on Castiel as a central character would be successful. Just my opinion.

reply

Lol, I suppose the tape ball is a member of the crew at this point. It tolls around the set and hangs out with the cast.

reply

I wish they used his character better like they did back in S4-6. And he still cant "teleport" - is that every angel or just him? Maybe it is all angels, since they needed to take the "playground heaven elevator" - but it seems Castiel has been set aside to do "his own missions" that takes him the whole season.

Really, I couldn't imagine the show without the brothers - we see episodes with no Cas, no Crowley, but to kill one of them off, I don't see that happening. Cas could "go back to heaven" but that doesn't necessarily mean he's gone forever.

I think the show could go on without Cas, but will it ever come to that? Probably not.

reply

The only angel that can teleport is Lucifer because he didn't fall like the other angels did. So yes the only way to heaven is through the playground.

We were promised a warrior Castiel this season and so far that hasn't happened. There are 8 episodes left and supposedly two are Cas heavy. We'll see what they have in mind.

reply

Do you think these "Cas heavy" episodes will be flashbacks, him going back to heaven, or another type Lily Sunder episode?

reply

From what I read we are supposed to find out about Cas before he rescues Dean. I don't know if that the was the Lily Sunder episode or if there is more to his backstory.

reply

I forgot how the angels fell - what did Metetron do again? Was it the trials?

I wonder if that means we'll see Cas (in Jimmy vessel) during Season 4 and not Cas in another vessel.

reply

Metatron cast a spell...Nephilim's heart, Cupid's bow (hand) and Castiel's grace to make all the angel's fall from heaven.

If they cover the time before Dean was raised from hell I suppose it could still be Jimmy's vessel. We don't actually know how long he walked around as Jimmy....was it before or after Dean was saved.

reply

Hm, I wonder if there is a 'reverse spell' or the angels are forever without "flight"

Well, whatever they do I hope it's good, but how the season has been going with Cas...I don't know if we'll get that.

reply

You would think there would be a reverse spell. Castiel has Metatron's grace stashed somewhere. Metatron doesn't need it anymore since Amara killed him. Kelly is about to have a Nephilim and Metatron and Castiel already killed another Cupid. Ta da!

The angels were more fun when they could teleport and time travel.

reply

All the ingredients!

I agree, they were more fun.

reply

I couldn't picture cas leaving. He will be with the boys till the 32nd. Yes the angels were cooler back when they were unearthly brings instead of suits
