i watched the last episode last night the scene were tom takes larkin to the water after she is being shot, then russel comes along, tom turns clearly larkin is gone I think in the water?
then the episode ends, I don't get it? This was It? or am I missing a part of the season if so can anyone tell me the ending, even if I do not see it at least I can make sense of it all loved the show too bad there is no second season
It was implied that Underlay gave Larkin to one of the orange creatures in the water. Her lung collapsed and he thought that was the only chance of saving her life - because these creatures essentially give you a new body, Larking might survive. The problem was that Underlay was obviously in a difficult position because giving her to a creature can be unpredictable - she might be missing...how are they gonna find her? He knew Russell would be upset.
That was the ending. I thought it was a really good ending (if you watched the series...if you hand't you wouldn't know what the ending meant obviously). They were planning on a second season, that's why it's not a true "series ending". There was an interview with the guy who played Dave or Underlay - I forget which one - after the show didn't get picked up for a second season in which they said the plan was for Dave and Russell to go after Tom Underlay for what he did to Larkin (even though it probably saved her life), and that Tom would discover that his ex-wife Grace was alive and was actually the one in charge of Szura all along. That would've been so awesome....to bad the show never got picked up. :(
Yes, Tom took Larkin to the water to save her life. In my opinion, the BAD hybrids (except for Christine) were only BAD because they were being CONDITIONED to TAKE OVER. So...assuming hybrid's, under normal circumstances (like Tom and Mariel), are peace-loving beings, putting Larkin in the water to be saved by becoming a hybrid wouldn't be the worse thing...
I didn't think the ending was too bad. They probably didn't know the show was being cancelled at the closing of the filming. Although it was a season-ending cliffhanger, if you look at it as the end of the series, it works too. Better than some shows (like Deadwood) that just drop off without any sort of ending at all.
I thought it was a little more open ended then that
1. Tom took Larkin to the water to give her to the oranges, because she was shot and there was no way they would make it to the hospital in time. The oranges took her and in a little while she'll return in a new body with orange babies.
or
2. Same as above only this time the oranges DON'T take Larkin because A. she is pregnant and shes been shot. It was already established that the oranges don't take you if there's something wrong with you. Toms inability to speak was due not to fear of telling Rus what he did but because the oranges that Tom had always thought were so great simply let Larkins body wash away.
you get to pick your ending either Happy or not so Happy
Personally I didn't see where/how they would do a second season as pretty much everything had been wrapped up except the unanswerable
The question of how did the big money relief people get there when everyone thought the H would hit up north is simple, driving a hundred miles overnight really isn't all that much.
"I never heard anything about a season 2. Don't know how much truth there is to that airjordanmvp23. I like the way the show ended, I'm not sure I would have liked the possible season 2 you spoke of."
It was a direct quote from a magazine, so it was true. Also, I found a video a while ago of the actor that played Dave and he describes in even more detail what would have happened if the series continued. The video is actually from 2010, so it's cool to see him still talking about it. Here's the link :
It's funny, I never thought about the possibility of the ending being open-ended like that. That's pretty intriguing. But remember what Szura said in the finale. He said to shoot anyone that tried to run and to throw their body in the water. When someone asked him "what if they're dead?", Szura says "there may be some life left in them". I think this is foreshadowing to what happens at the end with Larkin - It's a way of telling the audience that Larkin CAN be taken and turned into a hybrid while she's dying. Physical wounds wouldn't be a reason for an orange creature not to take a human - it's only if there's something wrong with your health...something related to your DNA or anything like that. Remember that's why Kira got rejected by them (bad heart valve) and Healey (Alonzo) (the guy that abducts Dave)...he said he's "not a well man". So if an orange creature were to take a human suffering from a gunshot wound, they could simply recreate their DNA and give them a healthy new body. Heck, Lewis Sirk was taken and given a new body WITH a new arm to replace the one he lost. However, if they were to take someone like Kira, they'd recreate her DNA and she'd be "flawed" with a bad heart valve still. Alonzo says Hybrids are "wired to survive at any cost", which is why they don't take you unless you're "perfect".
Also, in that video I linked to in this post, Dave talks about how Larkin would become a Hybrid (I'm not sure what he means by "fully evolved"...isn't there only one type of Hybrid?). I'm not sure why they'd have to hunt down and kill Larkin either, as he says they would've...unless she came out "bad" like Christina.
I also felt like they tied up a lot and that the big battle between the hybrids and humans was resolved really well. I felt a good deal of closure because the battle was so great. But if you watch that video I posted, he talks about how they basically had a big WAR planned, not just one battle. Which is why it's disappointing the show was canceled. The writers had something much bigger planned and they never got to share it with us. And no on can possibly blame the writers for not giving an ending that gives closure because, as in the video I posted, Dave says they were "absolutely certain" they were coming back for a second season, and were basically told that they were. So they had not only a whole second season planned, but a total of 5 or 6 seasons. Dave talks about how they wouldn't win the war, and that humanity would basically be in the process of being wiped out - fully evolving into hybrids...That sounds REALLY interesting, and I would have loved to see it.
The thing that makes Invasion's cancellation much easier, for me, is that because of the show being canceled, I got into Lost...which is by far, my favorite show of all time. If Invasion didn't get canceled, I would never have gone looking for another show to watch, and I as amazing as Invasion was, Lost was even better...much better.
I wonder what have happened to people like Kira. If they hybrids took over everything and replace what would they have don’t about the people who were not perfect and couldn’t be replaced.
It was already established that the oranges don't take you if there's something wrong with you. >>> It was established that the creatures reject you if you have a flaw. It said nothing about a wound, only some sort of genetic flaw. A gunshot is NOT a genetic flaw. Remember the deputy? He was missing an arm, and the creatures took him and he was reborn WITH a new arm. Injury doesn't count as a genetic flaw.

what a stupid ending, absolutely sorry I even bought this stupid set >>> Whose fault is that? Yours, of course. You're posting in 2009 about a series that was canceled back in 2006. Who the hell buys a TV series that got canceled after one season and then gets mad when they are left with a cliffhanger ending? How stupid of you. Next time, two minutes of research before you invest money in something may help you out. Too late to cry now since you spent your money without knowing what you were getting.
