Question for viewers in the UK

I never saw the show on it's initial air and only caught the repeats on E4. As it got to the last series I noticed that major subjects were being brought up in the story lines and then seemed like they were skipped over but were then mentioned in the past tense in further episode, sometimes in what appeared to be the very next episode.

I didn't think much more than it was a little strange but as E4 continuously looped the whole show from the start again I also checked in the tv guide (http://www.tvguide.co.uk) which showed the episode number in the description.
This time round I could clearly see they were missing multiple entire episodes out of season 9.

I don't know if they've done this for other seasons but I just wanted to know why multiple entire episodes were missing?

If anyone knows please reply. I've tried googling it but I could only get answers to E4 censoring bits during episodes but nothing on missing / skipping whole episodes.
