I thought it was sweet how awkward they were about getting the right one - exactly how a real bunch of guys would be, trying to buy a woman's handbag.

Yes, maryrose, it was so sweet. And I loved the way they reacted to "It looks like love". They were all really touched. It was wonderful.

"It looks like love" was the very first and very last line Brenda said on the show, spanning all 7 seasons. I thought that was the greatest bit of trivia from the show.

My husband, who is only familiar with Coach and Prada bags, was wondering if anyone knew what brand Brenda's handbag most resembled.

It was an original by the show's costume department; they weren't copying any designer's style. The Sag Harbor "Valentine Tote" is pretty close, in a pure coincidence AFAIK, but it has hardware (as it should) where Brenda's bag had stitching.

Maxx New York made an exact duplicate of it and sold it on QVC. I don't
think it's still available but I grabbed one up. I LOVE it and have
fun playing Brenda when I carry it ;o) I 'll bet you can find it on eBay.

I almost DIED when she started shooting through it knowing how much she loved
it too. In an episode it was lost or taken into custody or something and
she kept asking about it until she got it back.

I just loved watching that purse in all the episodes. And when they filled it
with the Ding Dongs....well that just showed how well they knew and loved her. And men no less ;o)

That's where I bought my "Closer" bag - QVC. And quite some time ago as well - they made a point of advertising it as being the bag used by Brenda. I remember it came in black patent as well as black matte leather. I originally got the patent, but it did not wear well and it began peeling after a month; QVC honored the purchase but I got the leather one instead. I use it every time I go out and it's a great catch-all. And yes, I rummage through it like Brenda did, too.

I did write something when that episode aired, the last one; I was teary-eyed when they gave her the gift, like little boys trying to please Mom. It was exactly how men would go about buying a purse for a woman, and filling it up with her favorites was adorable. And her last line echoed her first line in the pilot: "Looks like love." It was an amazing ending because the way it was voied in the pilot was so different from the setting of the finale.
