'I Pay More Attention To What Murderers Have To Say...

...than the people I really care about."

Wow, that next-to-last series episode was EXCELLENT. It was terrific that the writers had Brenda come to self-realization about the exact thing that made her character both interesting and maddening.

I would get so frustrated with Brenda and her personal relationships. I didn't find it credible that a great guy like Fritz would want someone who constantly undermined him, lied to him and dismissed him, unless it was time for him to help her out somehow. I wondered that any parent would accept that blithe "so-so-sorry" after she repeatedly ignored them on their visits. She couldn't even be bothered to focus her mind regarding the gender of her pet.

But those interview scenes where she tricked the bad guys were consistently delicious.

So the "self-awareness" episode was deeply satisfying: you can ignore your mother one too many times, turn a deaf ear to your colleague's concerns at your own peril and Fritz loves you but has a job beyond indulging Brenda. Plus the crime portion interviews were chilling. Win-win.
