I Wish They Did A Different Ending

Full Disclosure: I haven't actually seen the end yet but I'm in the process of the final season. And while the series still has that j'nois se qua (or however the French spell it) it seems off.

I don't like the direction it is taking. Brenda is obviously going to lose her job and that doesn't sit well with me. She CLOSES nearly every case with a confession. Why would she no longer be employable? She's a valuable asset to the LAPD.

In my opinion I think they should have just ended it with a regular old episode, so that in our imaginations its like our team just continues on solving crimes. Much better way to go out.

I realize TNT wanted a spinoff and some of the actors wanted to continue playing charactes they and we had grown to love but its not the same. I'm not against Captain Raydor either. I actually like her very much as a foil for Brenda's character.

Watch the rest of the series.

About Brenda being unemployable: Sadly, expertise in one's field is seldom the major criterion by which an employee is judged. S/he has to fit in with the organization, know how to kiss ass, know how to get along with others, know when to keep his/her opinions private, understand when to subordinate his/her needs (or even his/her department's needs) to the overall good of the organization (or to what the bosses present as the overall good) -- and all of those are challenges for Brenda.

I'm guessing that you're relatively young, and I mean that in a friendly, compassionate way (not snottily). The fact is that life is unsettling more often than not, and this finale chose to reflect that chaotic, bumpy, painful reality. Comedies tend to end with the promise of more of the same (or maybe even something better), but dramas don't (can't) do so.

Well, they're probably did it that way because Brenda Leigh making Will Pope kneel while she puts a bullet into the back of his head might make her look like a bad guy.

Frankly, I think that's the way it should have ended.
