shareFritz and Brenda are still together. Brenda burned her bridges with LAPD over Philip Stroh, but took another job at the same time. She and Fritz still live in Los Angeles, but she hasn't appeared on the sequel show, while he continued to work with the LAPD and has now gone to work for them.
shareKyra really didn't have any other choice than to end her tenure on the show. And since the show was about her, it disappeared with her.
You have to remember she spent 7 (!!!!) years on this show, and the shooting schedule made it so she was away from her family for 6 months at the time. I think it came to a point where she just didn't have any more to give, and wanted to get back to her family, for which noone can blame her.
However, how they ended it was just not cool. They could have ended it so much better, but I guess this is what they chose.
