Buzz's Background

My brother's got me hooked on this brilliant series, but I've come into it a bit late, and have just ordered all the DVD's. I'll need to do a serious binge watch to catch up.

I've just watched "High Stakes" from season six on TV, and I'd love to know how Buzz got his name. I can't believe it's really from his mother's prescription.

Has it been mentioned before in the earlier seasons? Or is it just one of those nicknames that's never been explained?

if I remember correctly, Buzz's background was never explained on the show...in fact, there were hardly any backstories or focus on any of the other characters besides Brenda...Tao & Sanchez each had 1 episode that focused abit more on their characters and Provenza had a few, but that's about it really. Apart from all the crime cases, the show was mainly all about Brenda and her personal life, while the other characters had barely any focus or backstory. Its spinoff show 'Major Crimes' suffer the same problem too...that show is also mainly focused on the main characters Sharon & Rusty and very little of the other characters. And as far as Buzz's background is concerned, I remember it was only mentioned once in 1 episode of 'Major Crimes' (forgot which ep exactly), in the ep Buzz explained to Rusty why he joined the LAPD, but again we barely learned anything about him.

Sorry if I wasn't very helpful...but sadly that's how it is on this show and MC, we barely learn anything about the other characters on these shows, they were mainly all about Brenda, Sharon & Rusty.

Francis B. Watson is his name. Episode 5 Season 7 - the only time you ever hear his complete name. The nickname is never explained.
