background music
would love to find out if I can get cd's or other recordings of the background music that is played on the show.

shareYou can do what I did for a different show. I looked at the credits, found out who wrote the background music and found his website where he had posted a lot of it. It was never put on cd.
I don't know if you'll have the same luck as I did, but you it's a place to start.
I'm not at all interested in obtaining a recording of the background music, but I have to say, it was the best background music of just about any show you can name.
Pick a tv show or series, and you will typically find background music that is loud, often trashy, and always intrusive. NCIS comes to mind.
The background music in The Closer was always subdued, and never intruded in or overshadowed the action. So many people in charge of productions like this seem to have lost sight of the fact that there's a lot to be said for silence.
Kudos to the producers of The Closer for realizing that less is often more.
Agreed, and well put.
Have you seen the opening credits for Six Feet Under? One of the best themes I've ever heard; possibly the best marriage of music and content. (The composer Thomas Newman, highly respected in his own right, is the son of the late Alfred Newman, who won 9 Oscars for his scores.)
