Pardon the pun, but Kevin's show will never have the following that "The Closer" had and still has.
Seems to me that if family time was the reason she left the show, he wouldn't jump right into one. Unfortunately for him, his show is on Fox, and sounds like Dexter making a Prison Break. He'll be home soon... Brenda always gets her man.
well Kyra had played Brenda for 7 years on the show, that's a long time...it's understandable that she had become tired of playing the character and want to move onto other projects, so she left. No one can blame her for wanting to move onto other things in life and spending more time with her family...she spent 6 months shooting in LA for this show every year for 7 years while her family lived in NYC. I remember Kyra once said that her daughter grew closer to her dad (Kevin) while Kyra was away in LA working, but she has since grown closer to her daughter after she quit the show. It must've been difficult for Kyra to be so far away from her family for many months on end every year.
Although I wish the show never ended and that Kyra continued to play Brenda even till this day, but I completely understand her reasons for quitting the show.
And there's the fact that even the best-written shows can't keep it up forever. Sometimes it's necessary to quit while you're ahead, rather than watch a great show die a slow and agonizing death.
sharethat's true, sometimes it's better to end a show when it's still on top, rather than trying to drag it out as much as they could and risk seeing it crash and burn to the ground. Although I would've loved to have seen this show last a few more seasons, but at least it still ended on a high note.
shareI agree...I don't watch the major crimes show at all...I tried to watch the first couple episodes but couldn't get into it at all...maybe they could make a movie of the week with all the regular cast (even bring back Charlie too)( not Rusty though, I really can't stand that whiner)...I'm sure there's a really good script already written too...I really miss Kyra
shareI too can't watch Major Crimes even tho I like Mary M and I like the actors from "Brenda's" squad. The show overall is weak, and the Rusty character is massively problematic -- the writers don't know what they're doing with him, and the actor isn't skilled enough to pull off someone that complicated.
I miss Brenda, too. I re-binge-watch periodically, when I need a fix. Brenda sometimes irritates me, but she also gives me courage. :)

I'm on the 6th season of The Closer and dread the day the show is over with season 7. I might start on Major Crimes, but I don't think I'll be able to stay with it without Brenda. I hate Mary McDonald. She is such a stuck-up b-tch, and always seems to want to bring Brenda down. Grrrrr!
