The skill of the writers -- laying the groundwork for Brenda's undoing
I'm re-watching, and in S1 E3, Brenda gets justice for two victims even tho her choices during interrogation lead to the death of the suspect, Nick Koslov (the Russian-mafia kid who was working as an FBI informant for his family, a fact that Brenda indirectly but purposely reveals to his family's lawyer).
I'm sure that this death is mentioned when the Turell Baylor lawsuit becomes part of the plot, but for whatever reasons, the skill of the writers -- laying the groundwork so early, showing us her disregard for the fate of certain killers -- is really striking me this time around.
Very good writing on the macro level (the show arc; each season's arc), the "middling" level (the plot and pace of each episode) and the micro level (the actual and unique words spoken by each character).
