Denzel cast to play Sun-Woo in the Remake...

hmmmm...yep, another day, another Hollywood remash...so the project has been finally greenlit and the estimated budget of this remake will be around 20 million bucks.

Brad Pitt or Joaquin Phoenix would've been been the better actor for the job imo but it'll be interesting to see how Denzel plays the role.

and btw, I found this quote funny as fck by someone on twitchfilm.net upon hearing that Denzel was to be casted for the role:

"Yeah this is gonna blow like a hooker on VE Day, but I bet he still gets an oscar nom for it. He will lose of course to Will Smith in Oldboy. Now excuse me while I go off myself."

Keep it white, keep it right! Is that it? God forbid that anyone other than the standard Hollywood dough colored boys get such roles. Denzel is every bit as good an actor as Pitt or Phoenix. For that matter, why does a remake have to go with anything other than Asian? There are many very good Asian Americans that could play this part. Why not fill it with one of them?

reply

Nothing against Denzel, but *beep* this project. I don't need to watch a remake of a recently made, and quite good, film.

Must american be that racist that they need to remake all foreign movies?!!! Can't they accept the fact that other people can make decent movies too?!....

IDK, I'm not much for remakes but I like the idea of Denzel Washington in the lead role. I like him & I think he carries his weight, dramatic, action, or either ruthless gangster/vulnerable anti-hero. Also, he is much older, so him being betrayed would add more to the vulnerability of the character.

Denzel Washington only knows how to play Denzel Washington in any film he is cast in. he his horribly miscast for this role, as he is neither physically capable of the role nor can he pull of the subtlety of the character. What a joke.

I couldn't agree with you more narcolepticsloth, and I LOVE Denzel.

Denzel's an amazing actor, and portrays emotion really well.

A remake would need an actor who can portray cold emotion well, which I doubt Denzel could do well. The actor that comes to mind (and he's no way as talented as Denzel) is Clive Owen. I think Clive pulls off the "I don't give a damn" personality very well in many of his films: he'd just be playing himself!

Clive for sure, but then again, he already did a film called Shoot'Em Up, which isn't that different.
