It came from 'True Romance 1993' Do you remember when Christian Slater approached Gary Oldman to give Arquette freedom, and he refused. That was the same thing that happened in this movie. Then when the bad guy found out he was searching for denzel. But then again there was also something similar in 'Taxi Driver 1976'

I don't think this was about saving the chick. It was about a force who was capable of righting wrongs and saving anybody subjected to those wrongs.

There was a tv show in the 80s Called The Equalizer with Edward Woodward. That's the basis for the movie.

Christian Slater's character gave Gary Oldman an empty envelope, if you rewatch it. He did it to piss him off. Really, he was going there to kill him and get Alabama's things.
